When the kids were small they played hide and go seek outside. While playing, my nephew hid in the back of my car. Nugget jumped in the backseat with him. When my nephew got out of the car, Nugget didn’t. It was July in Houston – temperature… 100 degrees! When we finally found the dog hours later, he was passed out in the floorboard. I scooped him up and placed him on the driveway, which had to be 150 degrees – duh! I blasted him with water from the outdoor hose which was probably 300 degrees. The poor dog!!
With no luck trying to revive our Nugget, I yelled for my 3 kids, niece, and 2 nephews to climb in the car. We sped to the vet and by the grace of God, while all of us stood in our bathing suits, shoeless, our little Nugget received another life!
Last night during 5th grade mission trip training, we talked about another life – eternal life. You probably aren’t going to get locked on the floor of a car in 100 degrees, but if you took your last breath today, would you still have life?
You don’t need a vet. You can trust in the love and work of Jesus Christ on the cross to give you that free gift. When you choose to follow him by the grace of God you get a new life. I’m not going to blast you with scalding water or throw you on the burning pavement but I would like to offer you the best thing that ‘s ever happened to me – knowing Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. How about it? New life? Eternal life! It’s waiting for you!
If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised him for the dead you will be save. Romans 10:9
